I’ve been up to loads lately, ArcheryGB’s roadshow, met a Champion Archer (Victoria Williams), went on my mate’s stag do, helped out at the Deganwy Prom day, phew!

ArcheryGB Roadshow

I went to the ArcheryGB roadshow, an event to inform clubs of their updated “Strategic Ambitions”:

Membership structure – An effective and efficient governance and delivery structure for the whole sport, with a member-centric membership offer.
Empowering workforce – Connections that engage, recruit, and support the thousands of people who create opportunities for archery to happen.
Diversity throughout – A diverse and inclusive organisation that enables everyone to be themselves and develop in a way that suits them.
Archer recruitment – A revitalised club network, rebuilding from the damage of Covid-19. New groups, partnerships, and places that increase the breadth of our archery communities.
Digital first – Putting digital transformation at the heart of what we do, leveraging technology to modernise systems and resources.
Pathway and podium – Redefine GB performance archery and be the pioneers on the archery world stage.

It was great to meet some of the people who represent the North Wales Archery Society, the Wales Archery Association, and representatives at the very top of ArcheryGB. Also, they showed genuine interest in what members were saying and the discussions around each of the strategic ambitions were great to be a part of.

Victoria Williams

I had the absolute pleasure to meet Victoria Williams and her husband Mal. Victoria is the Development Officer for Wales at ArcheryGB and has won loads of awards as a “Barebow” archer. I know I’m going to get this bit wrong but, I think, lately, she has achieved the following:

• British Field Championships
  • Veteran – Gold
  • Senior – Silver
  • Home Nations (Wales) Barebow Team – Gold
• British 3d Champion
• Double 720 Masters World Record

Deganwy Prom Day

I had a great time at the Deganwy Prom Day with the events team from Colwyn Bowmen Archery Club. Typical British weather on the day, high wind, loads of rain, and lots of sunshine all in one day.

We were there to promote the sport of archery and try and encourage more people to have a go at archery and even sign up for a “Start Archery” course.

Here is a great pic of one of our Junior members (my daughter Erin in the ICON Cap), encouraging a potential member on the day. Watch this space, Erin shoots really well and could be a coach in the future! But I might be biased.
